Peel Tower and Holcombe Hill provide a blend of historical interest and natural beauty.
Peel Tower was erected in 1852 in honor of Sir Robert Peel, the founder of the modern British police force and twice Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Sir Robert Peel was born in Bury, near the location of the tower, which adds to its local historical significance.
Holcombe Hill is part of the West Pennine Moors and is a popular spot for walking and hiking. The hill itself is approximately 1,100 feet (335 meters) high with lovely views to the Irwell Valley and the hills of the Peak District.
