Irwell Sculpture Trail

The Irwell Sculpture Trail extends for over 33 miles and has become the UK’s largest sculpture route. Combining local heritage, landscape and communities, it features 70 artworks by locally, nationally and internationally renowned artists. The trail winds from Salford to Rossendale, following the River Irwell, via Prestwich, Radcliffe, Bury and Ramsbottom.

There are two clusters close to the GM Ringway. One within Bury itself and another at nearby Burrs Country Park.

The work in Bury town centre includes From Northern Soul by Ron Silliman (Bury bus station), Genus Trogon by Shaun Pickard (back of Bury Art Museum), DIFFERENT LANGUAGES… SAME HORIZONS by Maurizio Nannucci (Bury Art Museum Foyer) as well as A Couplet by Tsai and Yoshikawa (Manchester Road entrance), the new Victoria Wood sculpture by Graham Ibbeson (Silver Street) and Metamorphic Lights by Jo Fairfax and Adam Spinos in the centre of The Rock shopping centre.
