Welcome to the Swan and Railway, Wigan’s Original.

Built in 1898 this beautiful Victorian pub on Wigan’s Wallgate, stands proud retaining many original features.

We hope we’ve brought you something special as we’ve sought to turn the pub back to how in would have come out of the box new in its Victorian heyday, bustling and lively but with corners to relax in, we hope you enjoy it as a proper pub. 

At the Swan’s heart are cask beers served form our magnificent beer engine, perfect Draught Bass alongside changing ales complemented by a great range of lagers, stouts, ciders, spirits and a carefully chosen wine list.

Wigan being Wigan we like our pies which we serve along with other honest dishes and the best fresh barista coffee or tea.

Our magnificent atmospheric outside beer garden is a perfect spot to while away some time as the trains rumble by almost directly overhead.

Our Rocket juke box is a treat, dig out the Northern Soul, and we could hardly call ourselves Wigan’s Original if we didn’t show the Rugby and Football games live, Rugby League historians will soon discover why our back room is called the Syd Abram suite.  

The Hotel in our name is just that as we have seven beautiful luxury rooms on the upper floors.
